The police have registered a case against the son of a local leader for allegedly beating and attacking the joint secretary of the Resident Welfare Association, Urban Estate Phase II. The police have booked Shubham Bhatia under Section 115(2) of the BNS for “voluntarily causing hurt” and 126 for “wrongful restraint”.

The victim, JP Singh, who has been admitted to a private hospital, reported that some children were playing cricket in the urban estate park. “The association had earlier asked the children many times not to play in the park as many elderly residents use it for evening walk. The children left the park. After a while, the accused came to the park along with a police gunman and attacked me. He punched and kicked me repeatedly in the presence of his gunman who took out his service weapon,” he alleged.
