A man is recovering in hospital with critical injuries after being attacked by a shark while swimming in a marina at a Florida naval base.
Bay County Outdoors captured the moment the victim, who local media reported was snorkeling during his lunch break at Naval Support Activity Panama City, apparently tried to fight off the shark as it dragged him underwater.
First responders were initially called out to reports of a man drowning before quickly realizing the man had been attacked by a shark, said the base’s commanding officer Cpt. Tristan Oliveria.
The naval station confirmed the victim suffered injuries to both arms before being taken to hospital for surgery.
