A 26-year-old woman from Patti has lodged a complaint with the Patti City police, alleging that her paramour exploited her on the pretext of marriage.

In her complaint, the woman told the police that she became acquainted with Gursewak Singh, a resident of Pakhopur, while pursuing her BA at Sri Guru Arjan Dev College, Chohla Sahib. The two were in a relationship.

According to the complainant, Singh joined the Army in 2022, but they continued to remain in contact. She alleged that over the past two years, he established physical relations with her on the promise of marriage. However, he later refused to marry her.

The complaint was investigated by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Karamjit Singh. Following the inquiry, the police on Thursday registered a case against the accused. The police said efforts were underway to arrest the accused.
