
KOTA KINABALU: A 22-year-old worker was killed after being buried in a landslide while carrying out pipe-laying work at Universiti Malaysia Sabah on Saturday.
The victim was reportedly trapped under 10 feet of soil during the afternoon incident and could not be freed in time.
A team of 12 firefighters, assisted by police and medical personnel, worked to recover the victim using manual excavation before carrying him out on a stretcher.
The victim was confirmed dead at the scene by health officers and later handed over to the police for further action.
