
Kota Kinabalu: A 32-year-old jobless man was charged with causing injury to his nephew with a knife.
Ali Darman was brought before Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus to face the charge.
However, no plea was recorded from Ali.
The prosecution asked for another mention date pending the medical report.
Ali is accused of voluntarily causing hurt to Ahmad Syadi Waraqah Afizal, 19, by using the weapon between 10.30am and 11am on Sept 29 this year at a house in Kg Contoh, Kuala Petagas, Putatan.
The offence under Section 324/326A of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years, and with whipping, or with fine, or with any two of such punishment, on conviction.
The court set Dec 5 this year for mention and ordered Ali to be remanded further pending the date.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Atiqa Nazihah Azmi appeared for the prosecution while Ali was not represented.
