Man charged with drug trafficking

Kota Kinabalu: An unemployed man was tentatively charged in the Magistrate’s Court here with drug trafficking.

Jimsal Muhajm, 38, was accused of trafficking 63.74gm of syabu at 2.30pm on Aug 3, at the staircases of the third floor of Block 3Q, Unversity Utama Condominium, Phase 3, Manggatal.

However, no plea was taken from Jimsal who appeared before High Court Senior Assistant Registrar Romario Jonoi, who sat as a magistrate, after the charge was read out to him.

The charge under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, carries a punishment of either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes.

Romario fixed Sept 26 for mention and ordered Jimsal to be further remanded.

In another case, a 19-year-old man pleaded guilty to attacking a man in Penampang last week.

Aerol Semail was accused of causing hurt to Md Razman Ramli, 22, at 7pm on Aug 12, behind the Megalong Mall, Donggongon.

However, Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie deferred facts and sentencing to Sept 13 while waiting for the accused’s social report to be prepared.

Aerol was offered bail at RM1,000 in two sureties pending the date. Inspector Suzie @ Stephanie Kupit prosecuted.
