Kota Kinabalu: A 36-year-old man was charged with raping his niece.
The man pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan, to the charge against him.
He is accused of raping the 11-year and one-month-old girl at midnight on Oct 31, 2022 in the bedroom of a house in Papar.
The offence under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between eight and 30 years, and whipping at least 10 strokes, on conviction.

Earlier, the prosecution did not offer any bail to the man.
While, the man told the court that he has nothing to say. Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Shafeerah Mad Iskim appeared for the prosecution while the man was not represented.
