The Belgian may need surgery on his hamstring, which he injured during their first game of the new Premier League season.
Asked if the news meant that City would buy, Guardiola told reporters: We will see.
We'll talk with [sporting director] Txiki [Begiristain] and the chances and possibilities."
He went on to admit to reporters that losing De Bruyne was a huge blow, given the midfielder's importance to City's attack.
