Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admits they considered signing Manchester United defender Jonny Evans.
Evans, 35, is back in the United shirt again. The veteran centre-back has signed a contract that runs to the end of the season.
But it could have been very different.
"We decided to buy (Aymeric, from Athletic Club 2018) Laporte . We spoke to him (Evans, who played at West Bromwich at the time) and we were close, but we couldn't get the deal done," revealed Guardiola.
"Maybe it had to do with agents. And the age, Laporte was younger.
"It wasn't a bad decision."
