Manchester City have decided to submit official legal challenges against the Premier League.
The Citizens are under investigation for financial regulation breaches by the English top flight.
City, who are set to win the Premier League for the third time in a row and will play in the Champions League final, could face sanctions as severe as relegation if found guilty.
Per The Times, City are disputing the legality of said investigation as a result of recent Premier League rule changes.
They claim that such changes should not be applicable to anything that occurred before the rules were in place.
At the time of being charged, City released this statement: "Manchester City FC is surprised by the issuing of these alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules, particularly given the extensive engagement and vast amount of detailed materials that the EPL has been provided with.
"The club welcomes the review of this matter by an independent Commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position. As such we look forward to this matter being put to rest once and for all."
