Manchester City midfielder Rodri accepts he'll always be an outsider for the Ballon d'Or.
Rodri finished fifth in the last count.
"I'm not surprised - it's normal. I understand how things work with individual distributions," he said.
"They are based on marketing, money and advertising.
"There have been midfielders who were also Spanish and who didn't get what they deserved either."
