Manchester City midfielder Rodri has backtracked on previous comments he made about Scotland.
The defensive anchorman was upset after Scotland's defeat of Spain back in March in a Euro 2024 qualifier.
Rodri labeled the Scottish side rubbish" for their defensive mindset and lack of possession.
But after last night's win in Spain, he said: "It was a big win against, of course, at the moment, the best team in the group.
"We knew how tough they are, we knew them very well because we compete with most of them in the Premier League and I know that they're so good, so competitive. I have all the respect for them.
"I think we controlled the game 100 percent. We knew we had to avoid the counter attacks and we did well and then they scored a goal out of nothing and we were like 'Oh my god'.
"He (Jack Hendry) was offside and that gave us the confidence to push until the end and in the end we found the spaces to open the gaps.
"It's always difficult when you face a team that plays so narrow, with five at the back. You have to be patient.
"In football when 11 players defend it's difficult to find the spaces and I think we were good in the sense that we didn't lose the head.
"We were organized and they didn't create chances."
On his previous comments, added: "No, it didn't affect me.
"But I just want to come here to say that I didn't mean that, it's just because my English isn't very good.
"I have 100 percent respect for Scotland. That's why they're first in the group and I always respect other teams and never criticize.
"As I said, most of them are opponents in the Premier League so I respect them.
"I just said that when you use these kind of tricks, wasting time and provoking, it's against the spirit of the sport and I don't support this kind of activity.
"I didn't say that Scotland were like that.
"I just want to clarify that."
