A father convicted of murdering his 14-year-old daughter after an alleged ‘play fight’ in their kitchen later complained to police about ruined holiday plans, CCTV shows.

On July 5th 2024, Simon Vickers, 50, stabbed Scarlett in the chest with a knife after the pair started playfully throwing grapes at each other, a court found. Vickers claimed he accidentally threw the knife at his daughter. The prosecution argued that the wound was too deep to have been accidental.

Durham Police released footage of Vickers telling officers during his arrest, “We are going on holiday to f*****g Gran Canaria in six weeks. F*****g hell. I don’t believe this is happening.”
