- Jeremiah Maximo, 38, of Barking, was initially charged with grievous bodily harm, but British Transport Police will apply to amend the charge following the victim's death.
- British Transport Police Detective Superintendent Sam Blackburn offered condolences to the victim's family and urged any witnesses to come forward to assist the ongoing investigation.
- The fatal assault took place on the first day of Notting Hill Carnival, with the Metropolitan Police stating on Sunday evening that they made 169 arrests during the day for offences including drug possession, weapon possession, assault, and sexual offences.
