Man dies after being trapped in burning tent storage shed

A 37-year-old man was killed after being trapped inside a burning tent storage shed in Kedah, with the fire destroying nearly 70% of the structure.

JITRA: A 37-year-old man died after being trapped inside a burning tent storage shed in Kampung Pelubang here today.

The Kedah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received an emergency call at 5.50 pm and dispatched a fire engine from the Jitra station.

Firefighters arrived at the scene at 6.03 pm to find the shed almost 70% burnt.

Senior Fire Superintendent I Azhar Mohamad, assistant director of the JBPM Operations Division, said initial information from the public suggested the victim was trapped when the fire broke out.

The victim, who was badly burned, reportedly managed to get out but collapsed at the scene.

Ministry of Health (MOH) staff later confirmed the man’s death.

The fire was extinguished at about 6.13 pm and the victim’s body was handed over to police for further investigation.
