A man died after falling into a water tank while carrying out welding work at MRSM Parit, near Ipoh, Perak.

IPOH: A man died after he was believed to have fallen into a water tank while carrying out welding work at Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) Parit, near Ipoh, today.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, in a statement, said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 3.46 pm before a team from the Parit Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the location.

He said firemen arrived at the scene at 3.53 pm, located about seven kilometres from the station.

“The victim, identified as Muhammad Nazrin Yaakob, 34, was believed to have fallen into the water tank while welding a ladder inside the tank.

“Firemen then entered the water tank to carry out the rescue operation using a rescue rope to bring the victim to the surface of the tank,” he said, adding that the body was later handed over to the police for further action.
