PENAMPANG: A 34-year-old man died in a fatal accident after a 4WD vehicle he was driving collided with a car along Jalan Datuk Panglima Banting here on Saturday night.
Penampang acting police chief ASP Arisanti Aziz said the incident occurred at about 8.30pm on Oct 24.
She said preliminary investigations found that the deceased was driving from the direction of Bukit Padang, and was believed to have lost control before colliding with a car driven by a 42-year-old man.
“The 4WD driver was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital in Kota Kinabalu, while the car driver sustained minor injuries.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving,” she said here on Sunday.
Arisanti urged anyone with information about the accident to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Saparia Ladoni, at 019-809 5133 to assist in the investigation.
