A man died after jumping from a third-floor apartment during a police raid in Kuala Lumpur, with 12 others detained and stolen motorcycles and drugs seized

KUALA LUMPUR: A local man died after jumping from the third floor of a residential unit on Jalan Gombak while trying to escape a police raid.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the incident occurred at 9.07pm during an operation linked to a motorcycle theft case.

Two suspects attempted to flee by jumping from the apartment, resulting in the 52-year-old victim being pronounced dead at the scene.

The case has been classified as sudden death, while the other suspect survived the fall.

Police detained 12 individuals during the raid, comprising four men and five women, including three children aged between three and 42 years old.

Two of those detained are Indonesian nationals.

Authorities also seized two stolen motorcycles and various types of drugs from the premises.

Fadil said further investigations are ongoing.

He advised the public against speculation or spreading unverified information to prevent public alarm and interference with the investigation.
