A 28-year-old man is feared drowned after falling from his boat while fishing at the Muara Batang Oya estuary in Mukah, Sarawak.

MUKAH: A man is feared to have drowned after falling from his boat while fishing at the Muara Batang Oya estuary.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 9.23 am, prompting a response team from the Mukah station.

The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Awang Ismail Awang Rosidi, who is believed to have gone fishing alone.

A spokesperson said a search operation has been launched in coordination with the police and the Civil Defence Force.
