A man is feared drowned while his friend was rescued in an early morning incident at the Sultan Azlan Shah Dam in Ulu Kinta

ULU KINTA: A 32-year-old man is feared drowned after an incident at the Sultan Azlan Shah Dam early this morning. His 34-year-old friend was rescued by firefighters who arrived at the scene around 1.14am.

The Perak Fire and Rescue Department received a report from dam management at 12.45am after two men were detected in the area. Department assistant director (Operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad identified the missing man as Ridzuan Zulkarnain.

The survivor, Mohd Jumadi Abd Aziz, has been handed over to police for further action. Search operations are now being conducted by the Perak JBPM Water Rescue Team.

Sabarodzi said the cause of the incident has yet to be determined.
