Man fined RM25 for threatening behaviour

Kota Kinabalu: A 22-year-old man was fined RM25 by the Magistrate’s Court here on Friday after pleading guilty to behaving in a threatening manner at a rented house in Putatan.

Magistrate Wan Farrah Wan Ghazali imposed the fine on Abdul Gamis Musiuni for committing the offence at about 5.15am on July 11.

The offence under Section 8(1)(e) of the Sabah Minor Offences Ordinance (Cap. 80) carries a maximum fine of RM25 upon conviction.

According to the facts of the case, Abdul Gamis was suspected of peeping at a woman while she was bathing. Both were staying at the same rented house.

However, there were no witnesses to confirm the alleged peeping incident.

A verbal argument later broke out outside the house between Abdul Gamis and the complainant.

During the altercation, Abdul Gamis went into his room, took a knife and attempted to leave the premises, but was stopped by his mother.

Police investigations found that he did not make any threats or intimidate the complainant during the incident.

Abdul Gamis was not represented while Deputy Public Prosecutor Akaash Singh prosecuted.
