LABUAN: A 33-year-old man was fined RM90,000 by the Sessions Court today after pleading guilty to three counts of illegally possessing 44,000 litres of diesel.

Tee Neng Yee, 33, admitted before Judge Marlina Ibrahim that he stored 40,000 litres and 2,000 litres each of the controlled item in Flexi and IBC tanks.

The offences were committed at an industrial area in Kampung Sungai Bangat at 1 pm on March 27, 2023.

He was charged under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 and Sub-regulation 3(1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974.

Under the Act, individuals convicted of such offences face fines of up to RM1 million (or RM3 million for repeat offences) and/or imprisonment of up to three years.

Companies may be fined up to RM2 million, with penalties increasing to RM5 million for subsequent violations.
