Kota Kinabalu: A 27-year-old man was found dead about 2km from the site where the Honda WR-V he was travelling in reportedly skidded and plunged into a drain along Jalan Kawakaan on Thursday.
The victim was found by firefighters at about 10.28am Friday during a search and rescue operation in a drain connected to a stream.
The Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said its personnel conducted a water surface search after resuming the operation at 8.45am.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by police and handed over to the police for further action.
The search operation, involving 28 firefighters from Lintas and Penampang fire stations, was terminated at noon after the area was checked and no other hazards were found.
