LAHAD DATU: A man was found dead inside a Nissan Almera parked in front of a mosque in Kampung Mesej Nala, Tungku, Sunday.
District Acting Police Chief, Supt Jimmy Panyau, said the police received a report of the discovery at 12.55pm.
A team comprising police officers and Health Ministry personnel was dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the victim was confirmed dead by health officials.
“Preliminary checks on the body and the vehicle revealed no signs of foul play,” said Jimmy.
A witness reported noticing the man apparently asleep inside the vehicle after finishing his prayers at the mosque.
“When the man received no response after knocking on the window, he opened the car door and found the individual unconscious and believed to be dead,” Jimmy explained, adding that the witness immediately contacted the police and Tungku Health Clinic for help.
The body was later sent to Lahad Datu Hospital for a post-mortem.
The case has been classified as a sudden death report.
Jimmy urged anyone with relevant information to contact the police at 089-881255 or visit the nearest police station to assist in the investigation.
