MERSING, Dec 30 – A 28-year-old man was reportedly found murdered, his body stuffed into the boot of a Proton Waja abandoned in a roadside bush along Jalan Jemaluang-Kahang here.

Mersing district police chief Supt Abdul Razak Abdullah Sani was quoted saying the victim’s body had a slash wound on the neck, with investigations pointing to revenge as the motive.

“The victim is believed to have had a relationship with the ex-wife of the suspect,” Abdul Razak said in a statement.

A video of the vehicle, swarmed by flies, had went viral online after a passerby discovered the car at the scene.

Abdul Razak confirmed that a special investigation team arrested a 33-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman believed to be involved in the murder.

“Both suspects were detained at 4.30am yesterday and are being held under a seven-day remand to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. This case was solved in less than 24 hours,” he added.

The suspects allegedly attempted to stage the murder as an accident by abandoning the vehicle to make it appear it had skidded off the road.

The victim’s body has been sent to the forensic unit at Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru for further examination.
