In a separate case, Wangsa Maju District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Lazim Ismail, reported that a 66-year-old woman lost over RM2 million after falling victim to a fraudulent investment scheme.
The victim alleged she was deceived by a non-existent stock investment promoted by an agent in 2023.
“The victim was promised a dividend return of 10 per cent every three months. Misled by this promise, she made several staged payments amounting to millions of ringgit, yet received no returns as promised,” Bernama reported Mohamad Lazim saying.
He confirmed that the total loss amounted to RM2,262,750, and the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating. - March 14, 2026
