BEAUFORT: A 30-year-old man was found hanged in his room in Kg Gadong, here, on Tuesday.
District Police Chief DSP Ismail Abdullah said the deceased, identified as Mohd Yassim Makrin, had a history of mental health issues.
Preliminary investigations showed the man’s mother discovered the situation around 7am when she went to wake him for a scheduled follow-up appointment at the Beaufort Hospital.
“The deceased often missed treatments and didn’t take the prescribed medication. When the mother went to wake him up in his room, she found the room locked,” he said.

She immediately called for help from another child who was nearby.
The deceased’s nephew, who was also at the scene, immediately contacted the police and hospital for emergency assistance.
The man was pronounced dead by a doctor who arrived at the scene and the body was sent for post mortem.
