A 32-year-old man was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a residence in the Old Mustafabad area of northeast Delhi, prompting an investigation by the police, officials said.
According to police, information regarding an unconscious man inside a house was received at Police Station Dayalpur on Tuesday. A police team rushed to the spot and initiated a preliminary inquiry.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the deceased had been living with a woman as his live-in partner.
The woman told the police that the couple had an argument the previous night, during which the man allegedly inflicted injuries on himself with a blade. Following the altercation, both went to sleep.
The next morning, the woman reportedly found the man hanging from a window with the help of a scarf and immediately informed the police. Police said that the deceased’s brother was also questioned and stated that he did not suspect any foul play in his brother’s death.
A forensic team inspected the scene and collected evidence. The body has been shifted to the mortuary at GTB Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police said further inquiry is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death.
Appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation and the post-mortem report.
