Man found safe in Sandakan

SANDAKAN: A 49-year-old man reported missing after entering the forest at Batu 32, Ladang Ranggi, here, at about 4pm on Tuesday, was found safe by members of the public at 12.55pm on Thursday at Batu 7, here.

Earlier, the Malaysian Sabah Fire and Rescue Department’s Operations Centre in a statement said the department received a distress call at 12.59pm, Wednesday, and sent four members from the Beluran Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) along with three members of the fire brigade with a machinery, utility vehicles, K9 Unit and a Drone Unit.

The report was received from the victim’s brother-in-law and the motive for the victim entering the forest was unknown.

The search and rescue (SAR) operation was led by Beluran BBP Station Chief, Edoen Macheal.

Also carrying out SAR, seven members of the police force, 13 members of the General Operations Force (PGA) and 15 villagers.

The SAR on Thursday started at 7.35am around the location where the victim was reported missing before the victim was found safe in Batu 7.
