A local man has covered the cost of admission to the outdoor swimming pool in a German town for children and young people under the age of 16.
As the town of Schwalmstadt states on its website, this offer applies to the Ziegenhain outdoor swimming pool during the six-week summer holidays, which began on Friday.
According to the outdoor pool's website, a single entry for children aged four and over and young people under 16 normally costs €1 ($1.14).
The donor is himself a keen swimmer and uses the outdoor pool almost every day in the summer.
"With his donation, he not only wants to share his enthusiasm for the local swimming pool, but above all to bring joy to those who are spending their school holidays at home," Mayor Tobias Kreuter said, describing it as an "exemplary initiative."
In the city of Frankfurt, children have free entry up to and including the age of 14.
