Man gets jail, fine for criminally intimidating Harith Iskander's ex-wife

A 31-year-old man has been sentenced by a Magistrate's Court in Kuala Lumpur to five months in prison and a RM2,000 fine after he pleaded guilty to criminally intimidating the ex-wife of comedian and actor Harith Iskander.

Magistrate S Mageswary meted out the sentence on Izzuddin Salim, 31, after he pleaded guilty.

Izzuddin was charged with making the threat via WhatsApp to Harith’s ex-wife, Dr Jezamine Lim, with a picture of their daughter attached in the message.

The WhatsApp content was then read by Lim, at a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur at 8.50 am on Jan 23.

The charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code provides a maximum of seven years in jail or a fine or both, upon conviction.

Before the sentence was meted out, Izzuddin, who was not represented by a lawyer, apologised to the court and expressed regret over his actions.
