On 7th December 2023, an unemployed man was sentenced to six years in prison and one stroke of the cane by the sessions court here for robbing a man at knife-point of RM50 last week.
Judge Norina Zainol Abidin meted the sentence on M. Krishnamurthi, 49, who pleaded guilty to the robbery charge.

He was charged with robbing Chai Fuh Chang, 43, at the Jinjang MRT motorcycle parking lot here at 11.55 am on Dec 7.
The charge was framed under Section 392 of the Penal Code, which provides imprisonment for up to 14 years and a fine or whipping upon conviction.
Krishnamurthi was ordered to serve his jail term from the date of his arrest, Dec 7.
A mother is still seeking pardon for a firearm-related offence done more than 20 years.
It is the case of a 42-year-old man named Affandi Abdul Rahim – who was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2001 for a firearm-related offence (he didn’t shoot anyone dead).
He was 20 then, and his mother sought a royal pardon for her son last year.
In the SRC International case, Najib was convicted of abuse of power, CBT, and money laundering over a whopping RM42 MILLION.
The Pardons Board also gave Najib a 76% discount on his RM210 million fine by slashing it to RM50 million (19% more than the RM42 million he was convicted of stealing).
