Man guilty of murder after crushing girlfriend with his recovery truck

  • Recovery truck driver Mohammed Azim has been found guilty of murdering his 19-year-old girlfriend, Lily Whitehouse, by crushing her against a lamp post with his vehicle in Oldbury.
  • The incident occurred on Azim's 41st birthday, November 5 last year, shortly after Ms Whitehouse had visited her premature baby, who was fathered by another man.
  • Azim initially dialled 999 claiming Ms Whitehouse was hit by a non-stopping vehicle, but later admitted lying, stating he accidentally hit her while trying to leave.
  • Prosecutors argued Azim deliberately used his flatbed Mercedes Sprinter as a weapon, with CCTV footage showing him 'nudging or pushing' Ms Whitehouse along the road before a loud bang was heard.
  • Ms Whitehouse sustained fatal chest injuries, including fractured ribs and a lacerated liver, and Azim, of Tipton, is scheduled to be sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Monday afternoon.
