TAWAU: A man who allegedly confined his wife and three children for seven hours and threatened to kill them at a plantation workers’ housing area in Kalabakan was arrested last Thursday.
District police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said police received information on the incident at about 8.30pm after the suspect became aggressive at his home.
He said the suspect, believed to be under the influence of drugs, locked his wife and children inside the house and threatened anyone attempting to enter.
“The suspect also issued death threats while throwing a sickle at individuals trying to calm the situation,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
Police took about seven hours to persuade the suspect before storming the house to rescue the victims, using a taser to subdue the man who was later arrested at about 10.30am the following day.
