TAWAU: Police arrested a man who allegedly attacked three teenagers with a machete at Jalan Kongsi 8, near here, on Friday.
Tawau District Deputy Police Chief Supt Champin Piuh said the 37-year-old suspect, an undocumented Indonesian, was said to have started chasing the teenagers comprising a boy and two girls at 1.43pm as they were walking through an oil palm estate.
The trio screamed for help and estate workers managed to catch the suspect and handed him over to the police.
The actual motive of the incident is still being investigated.
On Saturday, a 57-second video clip showing the man being caught by the public went viral on social media.
In the video, several men were seen trying to tie the suspect’s hands, stomping on his head and slapping him.
