
KUALA PENYU: Police arrested a 42-year-old who assaulted his 79-year-old mother, causing her bruises and a broken left arm, in Kampung Melampai.
District Police Chief DSP Ismail Abdullah said on Aug 27, a 48-year-old woman lodged a report that her mother had been beaten by her younger brother (the suspect).
The complainant learned about the incident from a phone call from her cousin.
The suspect, who is the victim’s biological son, lives in front of an unnumbered house in Kampung Melampai.

Read more “On the day of the incident, at 11.39am, the mother was having breakfast and could not finish her food, which led to a reprimand from the suspect.
“This escalated into a verbal argument, and the suspect slapped the victim several times and struck her hand, resulting in bruised eyes and a broken arm,” Ismail said.
The mother is now receiving treatment at Kuala Penyu Hospital.
The case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code, which deals with causing grievous hurt.
