Man held for having syabu

TAWAU: The district police arrested a man in his 30s suspected of having 11.54gm of syabu at an unnumbered house in Kg Kuala Merotai, here, on Wednesday.

District police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said a police team raided the house at about 6 pm after received a tip-off.

“Police seized a duffel bag containing 20 packets of crystalline substance, believed to be methamphetamine (syabu), weighing 11.54 gm. The suspect was brought to the Tawau police station for further investigation under Section 39A(1) of Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.

Police also arrested a 16-year-old foreigner suspected of being involved in two series of burglary cases around the Brumas area, here.

During detention, the suspect handed over a handphone and some cash to the police. Initial investigation has shown that the suspect was a foreigner who entered the country without any valid documents.

Jasmin said the suspect was brought to Tawau police station for further action under Section 457 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term up to 14 years and fines or whipping, if convicted.
