
TAWAU: Police arrested a 36-year-old man at the Sabindo food stall area on Tuesday for allegedly threatening to assault two women with a sharp weapon, one of whom was his former wife.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the arrest, which included the seizure of the suspect’s mobile phone used in making the threats, was the result of intelligence work by the district’s Criminal Investigation Division.

The man had reportedly expressed anger over the victim taking his ex-wife out without his consent.

Read more “The suspect threatened to slash both women during the phone call, prompting the victim to lodge a report at Tawau Police Station at 10.32pm,” said Jasmin, adding that background checks revealed the suspect had two previous records involving crime and drugs.
The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, which carries a maximum penalty of seven years’ jail, a fine, or both, upon conviction.
