TAWAU: Police arrested a 41-year-old local for allegedly threatening his wife with a machete during a violent outburst at a housing estate along Jalan Apas, here, on Wednesday.
District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the suspect was detained by a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team at the Tawau police headquarters compound around 8pm on Thursday.
“A machete, a vehicle key and a four-wheel drive (4WD) were also seized from the suspect,” he said.
According to the victim’s report, the incident occurred around 1.30pm when the man allegedly went on a rampage inside their home while holding a machete.
Jasmin said the suspect, who appeared agitated, claimed someone was spying on them outside and kept pulling back the living room curtains.
