Man in custody after ‘incendiary device’ hurled toward ICE office in NYC

  • A man was taken into custody after allegedly igniting an "incendiary device" outside 26 Federal Plaza in downtown Manhattan on Monday morning.
  • Police apprehended the man, who has not been publicly identified, after he set off the device around 8:30 a.m., according to a video posted on X by Freedom News TV. Smoke could be seen billowing from an area directly in front of the building.
  • Preliminary information indicates that fireworks exploded inside a garbage can, sources told CBS News. Authorities then found the suspect with airsoft rifles – which deploy pellets, helmet and carbon dioxide cartridges.
  • The suspect reportedly used a cart containing fireworks and flammable liquid, which bore a sign reading "ICE off our streets."
  • The FBI's New York Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating the incident, and one person was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
