
SANDAKAN: A 26-year-old man injured his right hand after his fingers became trapped in a fish-grinding machine at Tian Sia, here, on Monday afternoon.
Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station chief Jimmy Lagung said they received an emergency call regarding the victim at about 2.11pm and arrived at the scene two kilometres away three minutes later.
Upon arrival, fire personnel found the victim’s fingers still stuck inside the processing machine.
Firefighters conducted a rescue operation using specialised equipment to free the victim’s trapped hand.
The victim received initial medical treatment at the scene before being handed over to a Health Ministry ambulance to be transported to Duchess of Kent Hospital, with the operation officially concluding at 3.25pm.
