
PAPAR: A 37-year-old palm oil estate worker was fatally stabbed multiple times after a quarrel, believed to be over RM20, at Kampung Ulu Lumagar, Bongawan, on Thursday.
Papar District Police Chief Supt Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said a report was lodged by the estate’s owner which prompted a team from the Papar Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Sabah Police Headquarters D9 CID and Bongawan police station to carry out an operation.

“The argument started when the victim questioned the suspect, a 26-year-old Indonesian, about the RM20 his wife had given him the previous week to buy fish and bread.

Read more “The victim’s wife said she had given the money to the suspect to help with the purchase, but the suspect claimed the shop was closed and did not return the full amount. “Before this incident, the victim’s wife had also lent the suspect RM30, which had not been repaid,” he said.

“During the argument, the suspect went into his house, grabbed a knife and attacked the victim, stabbing him multiple times. The victim, bleeding heavily, tried to enter his house to grab a weapon for self-defence but collapsed in front of his home.

“Two Indonesian and Filipino men and two women, aged between 20 and 60, were also detained.
“Police seized a wooden-handled knife believed to have been used in the attack. The suspects and evidence have been taken to the Papar police headquarters for further investigation,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
