
KOTA KINABALU: A 25-year-old man was freed from a charge of having 33.03gm of syabu.
Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus discharged and acquitted Aslan Zaidi, after ruling that the prosecution had failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt.
The court said having heard the testimonies of the prosecution and defence witnesses including the accused’s evidence under oath, having considered all exhibits tendered in court and both parties’ submissions, the court was satisfied that the defence had cast a doubt on the prosecution’s case.
Aslan was accused of having the drug at 4.30pm on June 26, 2020 in front of the Kedai Alat Telekomunikasi Lam Mobile Enterprise in Lorong Inanam, Inanam New Township, near here.

Five prosecution and three defence witnesses were called to testify in the hearing.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Jessica Ombou Kakayun appeared for the prosecution while counsel Farazwin Hexdy defended.
