SANDAKAN: The Sessions Court here on Wednesday sentenced a 45-year-old local man to 10 years in prison and five strokes of the cane for sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl.
Judge Zaini Fishir @ Fisal delivered the sentence after Abdul Rahimanshaf Abdul Rahim pleaded guilty to committing the offence on July 29 in his car between 12pm and 1pm.
The girl, who was not related to the man, had only been using his vehicle as a hired ride to get to school.
Her parents lodged a police report after she complained of pain and told them about the incident on Aug 4, which led to her medical examination and the man’s arrest the next day.
The court also ordered Abdul Rahimanshaf, known locally as “Pakcik BJ”, to be placed under police supervision for two years and undergo counselling in prison, with Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Al-Hakim Abdul Razak leading the case.
