SANDAKAN: The Sessions Court sentenced a 24-year-old man to six years jail and a stroke of the cane for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.
The man admitted before Judge Zaini Fisher @ Fisal to committing the offence to the victim, who was his neighbour on April, 22, 2023 at an estate in Kinabatangan.
The court heard from the prosecution that prior to the incident, the victim was on her way home after celebrating Hari Raya at an estate in Kinabatangan.
The victim thought the man wanted to take her home but when they arrived at the scene, the man molested her.

Read more After the incident, the man took the victim home to her house. She related her ordeal to her aunt and later lodged a police report.
The man was charged under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences against Children Act 2017.
