Kota Kinabalu: A 22-year-old man was jailed 12 months by the Magistrate’s Court here for threatening to injure his grandmother here last month.

Ricky Marcus pleaded guilty before Magistrate Marilyn Yusdi to criminally intimidating Ana Papang on Nov 28,in a house at Kg Rampayan, Manggatal, at 7.30pm.

The charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to seven years or fine or both, on conviction.

The facts of the case presented by the prosecution stated that on the said day, Ricky went berserk in the house and threatened to harm the victim as well as to burn the house.

Read more According to Ricky’s grandfather, who was the complainant, such incident had occurred repeatedly and decided to lodge a police report against Ricky.

In another case, a 43-year-old man was jailed six months for keeping a stolen motorcycle.

Henry Jerry Miasin admitted to having the Yamaha Lagenda motorcycle belonging to Islamad Amir on Dec 1, at 10pm, at a house in Kg Tebobon Bukit, Manggatal.

The charge under Section 411 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between six months and five years and liability of a fine, on conviction.

The court heard from the prosecution that the machine was reported stolen on Oct 16 at Taman Buah Pinang, Tebobon.

Meanwhile, another man was handed a month’s jail for having a trolley, believed to be stolen.

Basrie Amil pleaded guilty to having the trolley which he failed to give explanation on how he obtained it, on Nov 30, at 4.20pm, in a house at Jalan Stesen Pertanian, Tuaran town.

He was charged under Section 22A(1) of the Minor Offences Ordinance which provides for a fine of up to RM100 or up to three months jail or both, on conviction.

Inspector Yusdi Basri prosecuted.
