
A 25-year-old man died after being stabbed in a fight with an acquaintance over a mobile phone in Melaka
MELAKA: A 25-year-old man died after being stabbed during a fight with an acquaintance in Kampung Sungai Udang.
The victim was found lying on the porch of his house with three stab wounds to his chest.
Melaka Tengah district police chief ACP Christopher Patit said the incident occurred at approximately 8.30 pm.
He said the victim’s brother discovered the scene after hearing a fight between the victim and a 44-year-old suspect.
“The suspect had come to the victim’s house to retrieve his mobile phone, but an argument ensued,” Patit told reporters at the scene.
During the struggle, the victim is believed to have been stabbed in the left chest with a machete.
The suspect fled about 300 metres from the scene before escaping.
The body was sent to Melaka Hospital for a post-mortem.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
