Man killed in pre-dawn fire that destroyed five terrace houses in Kepong

A 53-YEAR-OLD man has died in a devastating early morning fire that tore through a row of terraced houses in Kepong, leaving multiple homes heavily damaged and vehicles destroyed.

The victim was found burnt to death on a bed inside a bedroom of one of the affected properties along Jalan E5/11, Taman Ehsan, in Kuala Lumpur.

According to Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar of the Fire and Rescue Department in Selangor, emergency services received a distress call at 2.31am and immediately mobilised response teams.

“Fire engines from the Selayang Fire and Rescue Station, with assistance from Rawang, Jinjang and Manjalara stations, were deployed to the scene,” he said.

The blaze engulfed five single-storey Class A terraced houses, each measuring approximately 20 by 60 square feet, with damage estimated at up to 80 per cent.

Two vehicles, a Hyundai Getz and a Hyundai XG 250, were also completely destroyed in the fire.

Firefighters discovered the victim’s body at 4.29am after bringing the flames under control.

“The body was found in a bedroom and confirmed dead at the scene,” Ahmad Mukhlis said, adding that the remains have been handed over to the police for further action.

The fire was contained at 3.42am and fully extinguished by 7.15am, with overhaul жұмыстар continuing to ensure no residual ignition sources remain.

“The cause of the fire is still under investigation,” he said, as authorities work to determine how the incident began. - April 30, 2026
