
Tuaran: A man died after the car he was driving skidded and crashed into the gate of a house near the Chinese Cemetery in Tenghilan, here, Saturday midnight.
The victim of the 12.50 am incident was identified as Mohd Asrulnizam Maugan, in his 30s, who was confirmed dead at the scene.
Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Station Chief Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar said the distress called was received at 12.59 am.
He said nine personnel rushed to
the scene on a fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) vehicle.
“Upon arriving, the driver of a Proton Saga Aeroback car was removed from the wreck using special equipment.
“However, he was confirmed dead by Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM) workers as a result of severe injuries to the head,” he said.
According to Abdul Qawie, the body was sent to Tuaran Hospital for further course of action.
“Inspection on the vehicle and the surrounding area were conducted to prevent other dangers.
“The cause of the incident is still under investigation while operations were called off at 2.05 am,” he said.
