Deadly Obsession: Man Plots Wife’s Murder to Marry Her Sister
In a shocking crime that seems straight out of a Bollywood thriller, a man from Uttar Pradesh, India, has been arrested for conspiring to kill his wife in a desperate attempt to marry her sister. The accused, Ankit Kumar, allegedly orchestrated his wife’s murder with the help of his friend, Sachin Kumar.
The case came to light when Ankit filed a police report on March 8, claiming that his wife, Kiran, 30, had been the victim of a hit-and-run accident. He stated that while returning home from his in-laws' house, he stopped at a petrol station to refuel his motorcycle, leaving Kiran waiting on the roadside. According to his initial report, she was struck by an unknown vehicle in his absence.
However, the police found inconsistencies in his statement. Upon reviewing footage from nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, investigators identified the car involved in the incident and traced it back to Sachin, Ankit’s friend. Under interrogation, Ankit broke down and confessed to the crime, admitting that he had planned the murder because he was obsessed with his sister-in-law and wanted to marry her.
The Police Chief stated, “Ankit claims that Kiran was hit and run when he left the woman on the side of the road to refuel his motorcycle at a petrol station. However, the results of reviewing the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage at the scene of the incident exposed Ankit's lies when the owner of the car that hit Kiran was identified as Sachin.”
Bijnor Police Chief Bharat Sonkar revealed that Ankit and Kiran had been married for five years but had no children. His fixation on his sister-in-law led him to propose marriage to her, but she rejected him.
